Gorgeous hand crafted OOAK Fordite and Mookaite ring in sterling silver and gold fill, size 8
Fordite is an incredibly cool “stone” made from hardened layers of automotive enamel paint built up on factory tracks- also known as Detroit agate or Motor City agate, it is becoming increasingly rare.
The colorful acrylic lacquers of the 1950s and 1960s causes Fordite to appear in bright metallic colors. The 1960s and 1970s allowed for the boldest hues as there was rising demand for more colorful vehicles during those decades.
The Mookaite measures 17mm x 10mm, and the Fordite measures 23mm x 15mm. With the metal details the ring measures 48mm x 20mm. The band is 8mm wide sterling silver metal. The ring balances statement with a delicate nature.

Gold filled metal: Gold filled metal is a solid layer of gold bonded to a base metal. It will not chip or scratch off over time. Soldering the metal causes some copper to come to the surface. It will patina some over time, especially with soaps and lotions. I seal the pieces with Rennaisance Wax and also include a polishing cloth with your order. They may require sealing again over time with Rennaisance Wax.
Note: I use 10k yellow gold solder which is a slightly different color than gold fill. In some lights you may see slight color difference on the solder joins.
Due to the nature of handmade, each piece has its own one of a kind characteristics. These pieces are crafted by hand, rather than by machine.

Care Instructions: Each piece is carefully hand crafted in our studio in the Denver foothills. Please wear with love + care- store in a dry location and, if necessary, wipe clean with a dry cloth. Direct contact with water, perfumes, hair products + lotions will cause some change in color to the metal. Most metals will change some in color over time naturally, adding to the character of the piece.
